The work description does not specifically state that the test engineer will be part of the gigafactory, which means there's a chance the robotic team can use other parts of the company's 2,500 acres east of Austin. Tesla was not able to be contacted immediately for comments.

Tesla is also looking for mechanical engineers and robotic architects at its headquarters in Palo Alto, California.

The Tesla Bot should be 5 feet, 8 inches high and weigh around 125 pounds, Musk told the August. 19 event. The robot will use the same autonomous driving technology and automatic pilot cameras that are used by Tesla Vehicles, and a prototype is expected to be ready within the next year, he said.
