What New Year is today?
Today's date-January 13,2021-may be just another Monday in the Gregorian calendar, it is the last day of the year by the Julian calendar, it was first introduced to the world by Julius Caesar in 46 B.C. It is the Julian New Year, sometimes it is called as Ode New Year or the Orthodox New Year.
Why do we celebrate the New Year?
During the Roman era, March marked the beginning of the calendar. Then in 46 B.C., Julius Caesar created the Julian calendar which was set as new year when it was celebrated today, The Gregorian calendar was an attempt to make the calendar stop wandering with respect to the seasons.
